Does subcision work?
Subcision is a modality proven to release the deep dermal scar tissue attachments that are known to cause depressed acne and general scars.
It works by bluntly cutting through these attachments, allowing the skin to lift back to its natural position, creating far less obvious depressions. This smooths the overlying skin, significantly improving the appearance of your scarring.
Is subcision permanent?
Results can vary between individuals and depend on personal skin characteristics and scarring severity. During your complimentary consultation, one of our cosmetic doctors will explain realistic expectations based on your specific circumstances.
Generally, once a scar has been released and improved through subcision, the results typically persist long-term, and treated scars are unlikely to revert to their original appearance.
Can acne scars come back after subcision?
This is unlikely provided you no longer have active acne.
Results vary person to person. Expectations as they relate to your unique circumstances will be discussed at your complimentary consultation with one of our experienced cosmetic doctors.
Can you do subcision at home?
No. Subcision needs to be performed by a doctor with experience in subcision in a medically accredited facility.
Can subcision cause acne?
No. There is no evidence subcision causes acne.
Can subcision leave scars?
All medical procedures carry risk. The risks as they relate to your unique circumstances will be discussed during your complimentary consultation with one of our experienced cosmetic doctors. The chance of subcision causing scarring is negligible.
Can subcision cause hyperpigmentation?
Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation can occur in patients with darker skin types, who have not been pretreated with a pigment inhibitor pre procedure.
We recommend pre treatment with our pigment inhibiting creme The Brightening Creme for 2 weeks morning and night prior to any invasive skin treatment.
Our cosmetic doctors will review your risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation prior to your subcision treatment.
Can subcision make scars look worse?
All medical procedures carry risk. The risks as they relate to you will be discussed with your Contour Clinics cosmetic doctor. In general, the risk of worsening acne scarring with subcision is rare.
Who can perform subcision?
Subcision is usually performed by doctors experienced in dermatology, plastic surgery or cosmetic medicine.
The doctors at Contour Clinics are trained and experienced in subcision and acne scar reduction.
