for skin.

We have a range of medical-grade lasers tailored to your specific needs to help you achieve optimal results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Laser treatments precisely target skin imperfections, leaving the surrounding healthy tissue unaffected. The heat generated by the laser stimulates collagen production in the dermis and accelerates skin regeneration, resulting in firmer, more youthful skin. Depending on your unique concerns, we offer a variety of medical-grade lasers designed to achieve your desired results.

Depending on the type of laser and laser settings used, most laser treatments for skin are downtime-free. Some laser treatments may induce minor swelling and bruising to the skin which generally settles in 2-3 days following treatment. All of our laser skin treatments will require avoidance of sun exposure for the first 24 to 48 hours before and after treatment.

A consultation with one of our expert clinicians will allow you to discuss your skin concerns and/or conditions in confidence. At your complimentary comprehensive consultation, you will be provided with an individualised laser treatment plan that specifically targets your unique skin circumstances.

How Does Laser Treatment Work?

When energy is applied to the laser medium, release of particles of light (photons) are stimulated. These photons are focused into concentrated beams which are then applied to the skin (usually in measured pulses) to treat all types of skin complaints. Energy levels, method of delivery, spot sizes and wavelength frequencies can all be manipulated depending on the skin complaint to be treated. This allows selective targeting of skin complaints without damaging your surrounding skin.

For example, pigmentation or redness treatments use laser energy at a wavelength that is selectively absorbed by pigment and/or in your skin. This causes a controlled destruction of pigment/redness, without harming the surrounding skin. In contrast, Laser skin resurfacing causes a controlled micro-damage of tissues in the deeper dermis, without harming the skins upper layers. This causes an intensive collagen stimulation, and replacement of old for newer, healthier appearing skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Laser Treatment is the Least Painful?

The least painful treatment we offer is LED Light Therapy, also known as low level laser light therapy.

LED phototherapy is the perfect non-invasive and non-ablative treatment for skin rejuvenation. Pleasant warming lights of varying wavelengths stimulate skin cell renewal, rejuvenate tired skin, improve skin tone and eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

There is no pain associated with this treatment. Patients describe a pleasant, warm feeling.

Which Laser Treatment Requires the Least Downtime?

Non-ablative laser treatments such as q-switch laser facials minimal, to no downtime. Most of our laser treatments at Contour Clinics leave a mild redness lasting anywhere from hours, to 2-3 days at a maximum.

This is unlike older Ablative laser technologies not performed at Contour Clinics, which can require 2 to 3 weeks of recovery time, depending on the depth of the skin it has targeted.
