Is Potenza RF microneedling suitable for all skin types?
RF microneedling is generally considered suitable across a range of skin types and tones, which is one of its advantages over some laser-based treatments. Suitability depends on your individual skin, medical history, and the specific concern being assessed. Your practitioner will confirm whether Potenza is appropriate for you at consultation.
What is the difference between Potenza and standard microneedling?
Standard microneedling uses fine needles to create microchannels in the skin and stimulate a healing response. Potenza adds radiofrequency energy delivered at controlled depths within the dermis, which aims to intensify the collagen and elastin stimulation beyond what microneedling alone produces. The RF component also allows more precise targeting of specific depths without the same degree of surface disruption.
How is Potenza different from Morpheus8?
They are different brands of RF microneedling devices. For face and neck concerns – texture, scarring, laxity and pore refinement – Potenza and Morpheus8 produce comparable clinical results. At Contour Clinics we use them interchangeably for facial treatments.
Morpheus8 is different from Potenza as it has dedicated body handpieces which allow it to treat skin laxity on the stomach, arms and above the knees. If body concerns are part of what you would like to address, Morpheus8 is the more relevant option to ask about at consultation.
What precautions are recommended before treatment?
Your practitioner will give you specific pre-treatment guidance at consultation. As a general guide: arrive with the treatment area cleansed and free of makeup and skincare products, wear comfortable clothing, and let your practitioner know about any medications or skincare actives (such as retinoids or acids) you are currently using, as you may be asked to pause these in the days before treatment.
What can I expect during recovery?
Most patients experience mild redness, minor swelling, or brief surface sensitivity in the first two to three days after treatment. This is a normal response to the controlled skin stimulation. You will be advised to avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF 50+ sunscreen on the treated area. Most patients return to normal activities the same day or the following day. Your practitioner will provide written aftercare instructions specific to your treatment.
Where is Potenza available near me?
Potenza RF microneedling and Morpheus8 are available at Contour Clinics in Sydney and Brisbane. You don’t need to know which device you’d like, when you book an appointment. Every Contour Clinics appointment begins with a consultation in which we’ll discuss your concerns, goals and medical history before recommending suitable treatment options.
Can I have a consultation to find out whether Potenza is right for me?
Yes, a consultation is the right starting point, particularly if you are weighing up RF microneedling against other options. Your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns, and recommend the most appropriate approach – which may or may not include Potenza. It’s complimentary and there is no obligation to proceed. Book here or call us on 1300 233 803.
What is better, microneedling or Potenza?
They address overlapping but distinct concerns, so “better” depends on what you are trying to achieve. Standard microneedling – without radiofrequency energy – works at the skin surface and is well suited to general texture improvement, mild scarring, and skin quality maintenance.
Potenza adds radiofrequency energy delivered at controlled depths within the dermis, which aims to produce a more intensive collagen remodelling response. It’s generally considered more appropriate for patients with more established texture concerns, scarring, or early laxity where surface-level stimulation alone may not be sufficient. A consultation is the clearest way to work out which approach is right for your skin – your practitioner will assess the concern and recommend accordingly.
Is Potenza worth the cost?
That depends on what you are hoping to address and what your assessment shows. Potenza is a more involved treatment than standard microneedling – the RF component, the range of tip options and the practitioner time required to customise the approach for your skin all contribute to the cost. For patients whose concerns are a good match for what the device does (texture, scarring, pore refinement, early laxity) a series of sessions may produce improvement that holds over time. For patients with concerns that are better suited to a different approach, spending on Potenza may not deliver what they are hoping for. Your consultation is where that question gets answered honestly, before you make any decisions about what you’d like to do.
How long does it take to recover from Potenza?
Most patients experience mild redness, minor swelling, and some surface sensitivity for two to three days following treatment. For most people this resolves without significantly affecting normal activities. Many patients return to work and social activities the following day. The treated area will need SPF 50+ sun protection during the recovery period, and your practitioner will advise on when it is appropriate to reintroduce skincare actives. Individual responses vary depending on skin sensitivity, the area treated, and the settings used during your session. Your practitioner will give you specific aftercare guidance before you leave the clinic.
Is there an age limit for Potenza microneedling?
Contour Clinics is unable to treat patients under the age of 18. Beyond that, there is no upper age limit for RF microneedling. Skin concerns around texture, laxity, and scarring are common across a wide age range and the suitability of Potenza is assessed on the basis of your skin, your medical history and what you are hoping to address – not your age.
Patients in their 50s, 60 and beyond regularly consult about skin quality concerns, and in many cases RF microneedling is a relevant option. Your practitioner will give you an honest assessment of what Potenza can and cannot achieve for your specific concerns at consultation.
