How Many Fraxel Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments required varies from patient to patient, and depending on the skin complaint. We generally suggest 3 to 5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for the majority of our patients.
What Conditions Benefit from Fraxel?
Fraxel laser is the safest, most effective treatments for a variety of skin complaints including:
- Pigmentation
- General skin discolouration
- Freckles
- Sun spots/age spots
- Acne scarring
- Erasing fine lines and wrinkles
- General skin resurfacing
- Resurfacing scarring including surgical and traumatic scars
Does Fraxel Treatment Work?
Yes, absolutely. Fraxel laser has been clinically proven to be safe and effective in resurfacing the skin and treating many types of aesthetic skin concerns, including uneven skin tone or changes in pigmentation, acne or surgical scars, sun damage, stretch marks, and fine lines and wrinkles.
When Will I See the Best Results from my Fraxel Laser Sydney?
Results are dependent on your skin’s ability to heal and produce collagen. This can be a slow progress with initial results being seen 1 month post treatment. Full results are usually seen in 2-3 months post-treatment, but the skin can continue to improve for up to a year. Each session dramatically improves skin quality.
How Do I Know if Fraxel Treatment Is Suited for Me?
Fraxel laser is best for those who:
- Want to reduce their scar post-operation
- Require resurfacing of tired, wrinkled, aged skin
- Reduce unwanted pigmentation and other skin imperfections
- Remove acne scars
- Are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
What Precautions Should I Take Before Treatment?
Patients are advised to stop using any retinoids, peels, acids, or products that can cause skin sensitivity for a full week before the treatment. Patients should also avoid sun exposure in the 2 weeks preceding treatment. We recommend the use of a pigment inhibitor cream to be used twice per day in the 2 weeks leading up until treatment. This dramatically reduces the incidence of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Is Fraxel Painful?
Depending on the setting used, you may experience some slight discomfort during your Fraxel laser treatment. To reduce any discomfort, we recommend the application of numbing cream prior to your treatment. We also offer Nitrous (happy) gas for any of our laser treatments if required.
What Can I Expect After My Treatment?
After this treatment, your skin may feel mildly sunburned which may last 1-2 hours. You may experience some mild swelling and transient bruising but this usually subsides in around 2 to 7 days.
How Long Does the Treatment Take?
Prior to your Fraxel laser Sydney treatment, you will have an assessment with our dermal therapist to discuss the procedure and expectations. A numbing cream will then be administered to the area being treated. The actual treatment takes 10-20 minutes depending on the area treated.
