What are the risks of nipple filler?
Complications of nipple filler are rare but include:
- Compromise of nipple perfusion
Is the procedure safe?
All medical procedures carry risks. This procedure has been safely performed with semipermanent filler in patients who have undergone breast reconstruction.
Post breast reconstruction, breast tissues become scarred and vascular micro-anatomy often disrupted. This carries an increased risk of dermal filler complications.
Considering the procedure is well validated in post surgery patients. Placing filler in healthy breast tissue with no previous surgical history is theoretically much safer.
The benefit of hyaluronic acid filler is that it can be reversed immediately in the rare event of complication.
