What happens during a chemical peel treatment?
During your chemical peel, your dermal therapist will cleanse your skin thoroughly before applying the chosen solution. You may experience a warm or tingling sensation as the peel works. The treatment typically takes 30-45 minutes, and your clinician will monitor your skin’s response throughout the process.
What does a chemical peel feel like?
When you first apply the peel to the skin you will experience a strong tingling sensation that begins to subside over 1-5 minutes. There is no lasting tingling or discomfort once the peel is removed.
How should I prepare for a chemical peel
Preparation may include avoiding certain skincare products containing active ingredients like AHAs or BHAs for two weeks prior to treatment. Your dermal therapist may also recommend starting a pigment-inhibiting product four weeks before your appointment, depending on your treatment type.
How will my skin look after a chemical peel treatment?
Immediately after the peel your skin will generally look refined and polished. Around day 3, you will start to experience some flaking and peeling which can be gently exfoliated away with an enzymatic cleanser that digests dead skin cells. Stronger peels may begin to cause flaking sooner and are not recommended before an event. For best results, combine with medical grade skin care and our LED light therapy.
What acids are used in chemical peels?
We use naturally derived acids including Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Salicylic Acid, along with Retinoids. The specific acids used will depend on your skin type and treatment goals, determined during your consultation.
