The Blog ‘The big skincare dos and don’ts every pregnant woman needs to know’

So, you’ve found out you’re pregnant, congratulations! But wait, what can you actually use now on your face and body when it comes to beauty products?

What treatments are pregnancy-safe?

News.com.au chatted to our Head Skin & Laser Therapist at Contour Clinics, Nadia Radi, for expert advice on pregnancy-safe treatments.

What treatments can I do?

These are the treatments that Nadia recommends as being 100% pregnancy-safe:

  • The Rehydrating Chemical Peel
“The only chemical peel that is pregnancy-safe is a lactic acid peel, as lactic acid is naturally found in the body.”
  • The Signature Facial
“Everything in this facial is pregnancy- and breastfeeding-safe.”
  • The Dermaplaning Facial
“This is to be performed with some precautionary measure.”
  • The Facial For Him
“Despite the name, this is safe for pregnant women, as it uses physical exfoliation, not chemical. We would also forgo using the Ultrasonic Device, to be safe.”

A definitive list of what to avoid

  • Salicylic acids (BHAs)
  • Hydroquinone
  • Tetracycline
