How Do Liquid Injectable Facelifts Work?

As you age, the connective tissues in your face break down causing your skin to sag, facial fat to decrease and wrinkles to suddenly appear. Whilst this is a normal part of ageing, fortunately there are treatments to reverse these unwanted signs of ageing.

Dermal filler used in a liquid facelift contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar in our skin, is used to plump up the skin, even out wrinkles and produce a smoother and softer appearance. Dermal fillers work by literally filling up space in the layers of the skin by playing the role of collagen, elastin and facial fat.

The treatment is designed to target areas of the face that show prominent signs of ageing. Your medical practitioner will discuss with you your desired results and the best method to achieve these.

The main target areas include:

  • Under-eye area and near the eyebrows
  • Cheeks
  • Forehead
  • Temples
  • Jowls and Jawline
  • Nasolabial folds

The Benefits of an Injectable Facelift

There is a multitude of benefits when it comes to a Liquid Facelift. As a non-invasive alternative to a surgical facelift, the procedure is cost-effective, and results are seen instantly with minimal discomfort and no social downtime. The procedure itself is performed under 30 minutes in-clinic without the need for general anaesthesia.

Here is a list of benefits that you can expect from a liquid facelift:

  • Strategic targeting of common areas responsible for an aged appearance
  • Tighten wrinkles and sagging around eyes, lips and/or forehead
  • Subtle, natural-looking results
  • Lift drooping brows, jowls, and corners of the mouth
  • Restore lost volume, which surgical facelifts cannot achieve
  • Reduces undereye hollows as well as the temples
  • Plump hollow cheeks for a youthful, healthy glow
  • Create fuller, natural and smoother lips
  • Long-lasting results
  • Reversible in the case of rare complication, or you aren’t happy with the look
  • Less invasive, significantly less risk and expense as compared to traditional facelift surgery

Depending on what you would like to achieve, the non-surgical facelift can be performed in conjunction with other injectables such as anti-wrinkle treatments and fat-dissolving injections. This can enhance your results further. Additional treatments that address the skin surface concerns like pigmentation or acne scarring can also be included in your treatment plan for a thorough rejuvenation.

Choosing a Non-Surgical Facelift

A Liquid Facelift involves injecting dermal fillers into areas of concern to plump and rejuvenate the skin while a surgical facelift involves cutting into the skin. Both procedures can provide many shared benefits however, using injectables provides a much cheaper, safer and minimal downtime treatment. They are also less painful with a fast recovery period meaning you are able to return to your daily routine immediately after treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Injections Hurt?

There is usually minimal discomfort when it comes to dermal filler treatments. Our doctors and nurses are highly trained and skilled in their techniques and assure your comfort when performing any treatments. Numbing cream is placed prior to all treatments and our premium range of dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic within the product, which numbs each treatment area as your treatment proceeds.

Happy gas (nitrous oxide) is available at all of our clinics to reduce any discomfort.

Are There Any Risks to having a Liquid Facelift?

At Contour Clinics, we assure that licenced clinicians perform all dermal filler treatments using only premium, TGA-approved injectables.

All medical procedures carry risks. Your cosmetic doctor will explain all the risks as they relate to you at your complimentary consultation.

Risks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Infection (rare)

How Long Does a Liquid Facelift Sydney Treatment Last?

The results can last anywhere between 9 to 24 months, but individual results may vary depending on the volume of filler placed, thickness of filler, injection location and personal lifestyle factors. Prior to the treatment, a consultation with your practitioner will allow for a treatment plan to be devised based on the patient’s needs and unique timeline to maintain the results on an ongoing basis.

When Will I Begin to See Results from My Treatment?

Results are seen instantly.

What is Recovery Like After a Liquid Facelift?

Immediately after treatment, we advise you not to touch your face and avoid physical exercise to prevent the migration of the filler. No makeup for 4 hours and no active face products for 24 hours. We also recommend against spas and saunas for a week after treatment. It is recommended to avoid anything that may hinder your filler from settling in the right places.

Expected side effects include mild bruising, swelling or itching. This generally settles 3 to 4 days after your treatment. We also advise avoiding smoking and alcohol until the swelling and bruising go down as it can lengthen the recovery period.
