How Does A Cosmelan Peel Work?
Cosmelan contains active ingredients like kojic acid that regulate melanin production – the pigment responsible for dark spots and hyperpigmentation. By exfoliating surface skin layers and controlling pigment production, Cosmelan gradually brightens the skin, reduces melasma, and can prevent future pigmentation.
This process clears away built-up dead skin cells, revealing fresher, more even-toned skin. Over time, this dual action of pigment control and skin renewal may help fade sun damage, improve clarity, and promote a smoother, clearer appearance.
Phase One: In-Clinic ApplicationYour treatment begins with an initial consultation with one of our experienced dermal clinicians followed by the application of the Cosmelan mask. The mask is left on your skin for 6 to 12 hours, depending on your individual skin assessment and treatment goals.
Your treating practitioner will provide detailed instructions on how and when to remove the mask at home. During your clinic visit, your cosmetic clinician will:
- Conduct a thorough skin assessment and consultation
- Cleanse your skin thoroughly to prepare for treatment
- Apply the Cosmelan mask evenly across the treatment area
- Provide detailed instructions for the at-home phase
Phase Two: At-Home Aftercare
Following your in-clinic treatment, you’ll receive:
- Specific skincare products for the maintenance phase
- Detailed instructions for daily application
- A timeline for product use and skin monitoring
- Ongoing support from your treating clinician
This at-home phase is essential for achieving and maintaining optimal results. It uses products designed to continue the depigmentation process while supporting your skin’s healing. Peeling typically starts after 2–3 days, during which you will start to see initial results and significant brightening of the skin.
We recommend your aftercare is followed diligently for 6 months post-peel for the best results.
