Consistent Skin Support with an LED Light Therapy Membership at Contour Clinics

Consistent Skin Support with LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy is a non-invasive, medical treatment that uses controlled light wavelengths to support skin function without downtime.

It works on a cellular level, entering the skin’s layers to accelerate your skin’s natural healing process. With consistent sessions, LED may help support:

  • Collagen stimulation by accelerating cell renewal
  • A brighter, more refreshed-looking complexion
  • The appearance of redness and rosacea linked to inflammation
  • Helping with active acne
  • Combatting breakout-prone skin as part of a broader plan
  • Post-treatment recovery and scar support when clinically appropriate
  • Long term skin health and appearance in a less invasive way than volumisation and other treatments
  • A clearer, smoother complexion

A Contour Clinics LED Light Therapy Membership gives you:

  • Consistent time out for you in a regular schedule
  • A relaxing, painless experience in our luxurious clinics where you are taken care of in a supportive environment
  • Skincare that’s tailored to your skin, goals and concerns
  • Personally calibrated treatment, unparalleled by LED home masks
  • High quality weekly treatments at a cost-effective price from a highly experienced dermal therapist guided by doctors

Results vary between individuals, and the most suitable wavelength and schedule depend on your skin goals and baseline.

  • Medications that increase photosensitivity
  • Active skin infections or significant irritation in the treatment area

Your clinician will confirm suitability based on your medical history and skin assessment.

How LED Light Therapy works on skin at Contour Clinics Sydney and Brisbane

What's The Difference Between Wavelengths?

LED Light therapy uses different wavelengths of light to deliver therapeutic doses of light energy our skin. When the wavelength is changed our eyes perceive that as a different colour of light.  Shorter wavelengths are perceived as blue, purple or green, and longer wavelengths as yellow, red and infrared.

  • Blue light therapy (450-495nm) penetrates a short distance into the skin, eliminating acne causing bacteria, reducing inflammation and calming redness.
  • Red light therapy (600-700nm) penetrates deeper into the skins dermis and subcutaneous layers calming redness, reducing inflammation and causing an intensive collagen stimulation. It has also been proven to help with fine lines and wrinkles and causes a generally improved skin quality and texture.
  • Infrared light therapy (900-1100nm) penetrates deeper helping with wound healing, collagen stimulation, skin rejuvenation and general skin improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions can be treated with LED phototherapy?

LED phototherapy is the perfect addition to all of our cosmetic treatments. The most common conditions we treat with LED at Contour Clinics include:

  • Acne
  • General skin tiredness and ageing
  • Rosacea
  • Supporting the appearance of redness and sensitivity after certain procedures
  • Bruise removal – great when combined with our laser therapies

How does LED light therapy work for acne?

The mechanism of action of LED light therapy in acne treatments is two-fold.

1) Using red LED light therapy, targeted light wavelengths penetrate deep into the skin to improve skin cell function, decrease the skin inflammation associated with active acne and promote healing of acne damaged skin.

2) Using blue LED light therapy, metabolic processes within the proprionibacterium acnes bacteria (a bacteria thought to contribute to the development of acne) are impaired. This can cause an eradication of p.acnes bacteria, significantly improving acne severity, skin tone and texture.

Is LED light therapy good for Rosacea?

Yes. There are numerous clinical studies that support the success of LED light therapy for the treatment of rosacea.

Targeted LED light wavelengths treat rosacea worsening skin bacteria, while deeper wavelengths improve skin cell metabolism, reducing cellular free radicals and improving skin cell oxygen consumption. This translates into decreased skin inflammation and redness.

What colour LED light is best for the treatment of rosacea?

The simple answer is all of them. Clinical studies on the treatment of rosacea use a combination of red, blue and infrared LED light therapy to successfully treat all layers of the skin, decrease the amount of inflammatory skin bacteria and promote healing of inflamed red skin.

We recommend an alternating course of red and blue light therapy that is at the same time combined with infrared.

Does LED light therapy work for broken capillaries?

Yes. LED light therapy will help decrease the number of newly forming broken capillaries. This occurs by reducing inflammation and decreasing bacterial load on the skin.

To completely remove already formed broken capillaries we suggest IPL or RF pin depending on their location. See our broken capillaries page.

What are the risks of treatment?

There are no documented significant side effects with LED light therapy if used as directed.

Those with melasma or troublesome pigmentation may want to avoid blue light therapy, as it can worsen pigment. Blue light may also not be suitable for darker skin types given its ability to stimulate pigment.

Will treatments hurt?

There is no pain associated with this treatment. Patients describe a pleasant warm feeling.

Does LED light therapy use UV rays?

No. There are no harmful UV rays used in LED light therapy treatments.

Can LED light therapy cause burns?

No, there are no reported cases of LED light therapy causing burns to the skin.

Is LED light therapy dangerous?

No. This is a gentle and effective treatment with no documented “dangerous” side effects in the literature.

Is LED light therapy safe for your face?

Yes! LED light therapy is completely safe to use on the face.

What is the price of a weekly LED Light Membership at Contour Clinics?

The price is $29/week.

We want you to invest in your skin. We are such big believers in the benefits of LED Light Therapy, we want to make it more cost effective for you to attend regularly to get the full benefits.
