Aline Castro came to cosmetic medicine by an unlikely route – from the ICU. After completing her Bachelor of Nursing at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2009 and spending years in intensive care, she brought her clinical background into aesthetic medicine. A decade of cosmetic practice later, the habits that ICU instilled are now Aline’s trademark approach – precise assessment, anatomical rigour and calm decision-making.
Aline’s interest in cosmetic medicine began in Brazil, watching a close friend seek aesthetic treatments with a thoughtful, considered eye. Aline was fascinated by how much care she put into looking after herself without wanting to look different.
Aline takes a whole-face view of assessment. She enjoys working with patients who want to age well over time rather than address a single concern. Her own experience with ageing gives her an empathetic perspective and understanding of the facial and skin changes that happen with time.
Regenerative and skin quality treatments are of particular interest for the way they work gradually with her patients’ own biology. For Aline, the most rewarding outcome is when a patient’s result is noticed by those around them but no-one can quite put their finger on why.
In consultation, Aline rolls out the red carpet. The experience is as important as the treatment. Aline’s goal is for patients to leave feeling that they have been heard, understood and genuinely cared for.
She invests time and space to understand what has brought a patient in, what concerns them and what they are actually hoping for. Aline assesses the face as a whole and gives her honest opinion about what she would and would not recommend. She builds a plan gradually rather than trying to address everything at once. Telling a patient they do not need a particular treatment is, for her, as valid an outcome as recommending one.
Away from work, her two boys take up most of her time – and she adores them. Together they travel, explore and make the most of wherever they are. When time allows, she goes to the gym, catches up with friends and seeks out good food. Aline is also interested in beauty and longevity and dedicates herself to learning more about them.
