What is Morpheus8 and How Does It Work?

What is Morpheus8 and How Does It Work?

Morpheus8 is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device that delivers controlled radiofrequency energy through fine insulated needles to targeted depths within the skin. The needles penetrate the skin’s surface and deliver heat to the dermal and subdermal layers, stimulating a collagen and elastin response in the tissue below. It’s used to address texture, scarring, laxity and skin quality on the face, neck and body.

Morpheus8 is distinct for its dedicated body handpieces, which make it suitable for body skin concerns including the stomach, arms and above the knees – areas that standard microneedling and Potenza do not address as effectively.

Morpheus8 is not a laser treatment. RF energy is delivered below the skin surface through insulated needles, which means the outer layers of the skin are largely unaffected. This contributes to a lower risk of pigmentation than many laser-based alternatives and makes it applicable across a broader range of skin tones.

At Contour Clinics, Morpheus8 treatments take place under the supervision of qualified practitioners in medically accredited facilities. Every treatment is planned and adjusted to suit your unique concerns, anatomy and skin type. There is no copy-paste approach at Contour – the depth, energy level and tip configuration are set according to your assessment, goals and concerns.

What Does Morpheus8 Do for Your Skin?

Morpheus8 RF microneedling may be discussed to address these concerns:

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity – particularly around the lower face, jowls, and neck
  • Jawline and facial contouring concerns
  • Fine lines and wrinkling
  • Uneven skin texture and enlarged pores
  • Acne scars and other forms of scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Deeper tissue remodelling, including mild to moderate lower-face heaviness
  • Skin firmness and overall loss of elasticity
  • Neck and décolletage concerns

Morpheus 8 for Post-Partum and Body Skin Laxity
Morpheus8’s body handpieces make it a relevant option for patients noticing skin laxity on the stomach following pregnancy or significant weight change, loose skin on the upper arms or laxity above the knees. These are areas where standard microneedling, Potenza and most facial RF devices have limited application. Your practitioner will assess whether Morpheus8 is appropriate for the specific area and concern at consultation.

Body Fat Remodelling with Morpheus8
As well as skin tightening on the body, Morpheus8 can be adjusted to address stubborn pockets of fat in treated areas. This is discussed at consultation – your practitioner will assess whether this is a relevant consideration for your concerns and goals.

Suitability depends on the nature and severity of the concern, your skin type, and your medical history. Whether it’s the right approach for you is something your practitioner will assess in your consultation and discuss with honesty and a focus on finding a suitable option that can meet your needs. Results vary between individuals.

How Long Do Morpheus8 Results Last?

When Do Results from Morpheus8 Appear?

Morpheus8 works by stimulating the body’s collagen and tissue remodelling response, which means changes develop gradually rather than immediately. Some patients notice initial changes in the weeks following their first session. More visible improvement typically continues to emerge over the months that follow, as the remodelling process progresses. The images below reflect results following a completed three-session series.

How Long Do Morpheus8 Results Last?

How long Morpheus8 results hold depends on your age, skin quality, lifestyle and the concerns being addressed. Collagen remodelling continues in the months following the final session, which means results often develop further before stabilising. Your practitioner will discuss timing and maintenance as part of your treatment plan.

What Should I Realistically Expect after Morpheus8?

The images below reflect individual patient responses to a specific treatment plan, tailored to their circumstances. What may be realistic for you depends on the concerns you’re targeting, your skin type and how it responds to treatment. A consultation is the clearest way to understand what Morpheus8 may achieve for your specific concerns – your practitioner will give you an honest assessment before any treatment is recommended.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Morpheus8?

Face
Morpheus8 may address skin laxity around the jowls, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkling, smooth acne scarring and refine overall facial skin texture. For face treatments, it produces comparable results to Potenza RF microneedling. At Contour Clinics, we use both Potenza and Morpheus8 RF microneedling devices interchangeably for facial treatments.

Neck
The neck is one of the more common treatment areas, particularly for patients noticing skin laxity or crepey texture. Both Morpheus8 and Potenza address neck concerns effectively.

Décolletage
Morpheus8 may be used to address skin laxity and texture across the chest and décolletage.

Stomach

For patients noticing skin laxity or crepey texture on the abdomen – particularly following pregnancy or significant weight change – Morpheus8 body handpieces may be relevant. Post-partum stomach laxity is one of the more common reasons patients ask about Morpheus8 body treatments specifically.

Arms
Loose or crepey skin on the upper arms can be addressed with Morpheus8 body handpieces, where standard microneedling and facial RF devices have limited reach.

Above the Knees
Skin laxity above the knees is another area where the Morpheus8 body handpiece application may be worth discussing at consultation.

Body area suitability is assessed case by case. Your practitioner will confirm which areas are appropriate for treatment based on your individual assessment.

How Morpheus8 Compares to Potenza and Skin Needling

How Does Morpheus8 Compare to Potenza and Skin Needling?

All three treatments use microneedling technology but are designed for different concerns and applications.

Skin needling works at the skin surface and mid-dermis through mechanical stimulation only – no heat or energy. It is suited to texture, pigmentation and general skin quality across a wide range of skin types.

Potenza RF microneedling and Morpheus8 are both RF microneedling treatments. For face and neck concerns – texture, scarring, laxity and pore refinement – they produce comparable clinical results. Morpheus8 is different in that it has body handpieces to treat stomach laxity, arm skin, above the knees and to support fat remodelling.

If you are unsure which may be suitable for you, a consultation is the clearest way to find out.

Morpheus8 consultation with a cosmetic practitioner at Contour Clinics

What to Expect at Your Morpheus 8 Consultation and Treatment

Before any treatment, you will have a consultation with a Contour Clinics cosmetic practitioner.

Your consultation will include:

  • Discussion around what you’re noticing, your goals, and what you would like to change (and keep)
  • Review of your medical history and relevant medications, and an assessment of your suitability for Morpheus8
  • An anatomy-led assessment of the area of concern, including facial structure, skin quality, and tissue depth, with standardised clinical photography
  • A conversation about options that may be suitable for your concerns, including trade-offs, limitations, and what realistic expectations look like for your skin
  • Explanation of risks, aftercare, and recovery considerations specific to your circumstances
  • A written treatment plan you can take away, review, and ask further questions about before deciding

Your consultation is complimentary. A $75 deposit secures your booking and is credited to your treatment if you proceed, or refunded in full if you decide not to.

Morpheus8 Treatment

A topical anaesthetic may be applied before treatment to reduce discomfort. Your practitioner adjusts the device settings – needle depth, energy level and tip configuration – according to your treatment plan and the specific area being addressed.

Treatment time varies depending on the area. Most patients experience mild redness, swelling, and surface sensitivity in the hours following treatment. This is a normal response to deeper tissue stimulation. Recovery is generally more involved than with standard microneedling, with most patients experiencing visible changes in the skin for several days to up to a week. Your practitioner will give you specific aftercare guidance and a written plan before you leave.

How Often Should You Do Morpheus8 RF Microneedling

How Often Should You Do Morpheus8 RF Microneedling?

For most facial concerns, a series of three sessions spaced approximately four to six weeks apart is a common starting recommendation. Deeper structural or laxity concerns may benefit from a different interval or a longer initial series – your practitioner will advise based on your assessment.

Collagen and tissue remodelling is a gradual process. Improvement may be noticeable in the weeks following each session, with more significant change typically seen after the completion of a full series. Individual responses vary.
